Young Nations Digital Online Shop Biography Young Nations’ new “U.nited S.tates of A.frica” album is the birth of ‘continental hip-hop’. Being from South Africa and having spent a large portion his life in exile across the United States, Zimbabwe, Zaire, France, Germany and being born in England, the extent of Young Nation’s life experiences are vast. The eldest son of one of Africa’s most celebrated poets and authors the late Professor Mazisi Kunene, an African & South African Poet Laurite, the author of Emperor Shaka the Great and U.C.L.A professor for 15 years. With a total of 3 South African streets re-named in his family’s name, Young Nations continues to raise the torch of giving back to his community, spearheading multiple youth development initiatives. Coupled with deep lyrical content and a unique style that is second-to-none, Young Nations says himself, “I’m the voice of Africa’s new youth, the voiceless billions of young people who hunger for inspiration today.” Young Nations has also featured with multiple SAMA award winner H.H.P., Metro Award winner Zulu Boy, Pro-kid, Maggz, Imbube, F-eezy and internationally renowned rapper Sean Price. Recently Young Nations wrote and starred in the only television commercial for global news network CNN International performed by South African artist and the only hip hop advert in CNN’s history. The highly anticipated new album, “U.NITED S.TATES OF A.FRICA” affirms that artistically Young Nations is in league of his own. In describing the album Young Nations states, “The U.S.A. album is an expression of Africa’s ‘new youth’ in the context of a global pop culture.” “U.NITED S.TATES OF A.FRICA” collaborations include recording artist and television personality Proverb, young celebrated classic violinist Incha, US hip hop sensation Whosane, and local vocalists Tamarsha, Nicky Shange amongst others. The producers include Draztik, Cape Town producer Ameen (Produced Zubz #1 hit “Part Time Lover”, Proverb, Skwatta Kamp), Hipe, Leeleo, Mr Mallum, Tegs and commercial music genius Alexis behind such artists as TK, Loyiso, Danny K, Kabelo and more. The “U.NITED S.TATES OF A.FRICA” album was released globally on March 1st 2010.
