It all began in 1999 with a vision of creating a recording label that would cater for the talented young artists, who many major record companies who were overlooking. The recent growth and development of hiphop music in southern Africa placed Unreleased Records in the perfect position to establish itself in the music industry. The philosophy of Unrelea Cashless Society, one of the first artists to be released through label, has done extraordinarily well and remains one of the top five recording artists in their genre. In 2005 Unreleased Records poised itself to increase its influence in the industry with new artists, a newly developed recording facility and strategic partnerships with production companies both locally and internationally. One of the most important aspects of any professional recording is the publishing, of which Unreleased Records owns its own independent publishing facility. In terms of distribution and recording, the company previously maintained a major distribution contract with BMG SONY Africa for the purpose of distribution of all its products. This allowed Unreleased Records to effectively reach its target market on the same platform as all other major recording labels. The distribution continued to grow with further partnerships being developed with other distributors within and as well as outside South Africa. Unreleased Records secured a strategic business relationship with Gallo Record Company, the largest music record label on the African continent for the release of Young Nations debut album "Nations Uprising". The future of Unreleased Records is truly exciting as the company has recently established its new base of operations in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg with a state-the-art recording studio. With a roster of 6 Artists and Producers and current partnerships which include CD distribution through Soul Candi Distribution and Digital Distribution through Matchboxology / Song King as well as Content Connect Africa.
Since its early beginnings in 1999, Unreleased Records has since established itself a serious player in the recording industry. |
